Leave saving the world to the men? I don't think so.

How terribly sad. BJ was a big part of the best comment section on the internet. Given how much light and thought she shared with us, her family’s loss must be tremendous.

How truly sad. Her obituary makes it clear that she contributed so much to her community as well as her family. Those who knew her closely must be devastated.
Her comments here were always well thought-through and nuanced – and I always learned from her different perspective on issues.
My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

Oh wow, Laura, that’s so sad. Thanks for letting us know. She was so young (/my exact age). She really contributed a lot here, and it sounds like she gave a lot to her overall community.

This is my favorite part: “She believed deeply we all have a small role to play toward collective change. More than anything, she wanted all people to be able to live life to the fullest and to hold on to that which makes us happy and gives life meaning: what strikes joy, what moves us, and what leaves us all in a dazzlement of surprise.”

It’s pretty weird that I’m crying about someone who I never spoke to or met in person, and never called by her actual name!

I’m crushed that I didn’t know that she was ill and that I never talked with her IRL. Her obituary was beautiful.

I started reading Apt 11D about 20ish years ago. I was never a vocal commenter but am finding myself in tears over this news. BJ was wonderful and insightful and I shall miss her. May her memory be a blessing

Oh my. Thank you for sharing her obituary.
I did feel as though I did know her, (maybe more than many of my in-real-life acquaintances,) from reading her comments on so many things.
I’m hoping and wishing she’s gone on to an even more interesting place.
