Remember This?

  1. A reminder of how we tried so many things and thought we would have way more control than we did. Shortly after the closures in March 2020, I had a conversation with a group of moms, a number of whom were doctors with different specialties. The gastro surgeons were wondering how the patients they often saw (for some kind of abdominal tortion thing that was a number of their emergencies); the oncologist was doing tele appointments, and learning that they could work pretty well for many of her emergencies; the gerontologist was trying to figure out how to protect her patients (and it was hard — they needed caregiving and care was the method of transmission). The gerontologist said to us that it would take a few years for the pandemic to roll through and even though I thought I understood, I didn’t. I thought we could stop it, but harm reduction was what faced us with this particular virus.

    1. Yes, the drugstore still has the spaing spots on the floor. People were not paying attention to them, so I think they are just leftover. I guess they might think having them there doesn’t hurt anything. And, also, maybe this particular store is going to close & they don’t want to bother.

  2. I’m very happy we have no small children right now. Everyone with them seems to have someone or everyone sick and trouble getting doctor appointments.

  3. I’m getting Facebook ‘memories’ from Covid lockdown – which brings back those intense memories…. and not in a good way. Not exactly PTSD – but a relative.
