Encyclopedia decor. This old school wikipedia adds some nice heft to a white room. And the pages and artwork inside are gorgeous. I love readable decor.
Yes, those encyclopedia are a bit too close for comfort. Their pages were too thin to be readable, too.
The children’s encyclopedia (ours were red bound) from the same era were readable, though. Still remember the first entry, Aachen (about which I know far more than I would have otherwise).
We gifted those to a cousin from our home county who later became an engineer who works in international waters and he told us as an adult that the encyclopedias (which he had read) gave him the smattering of knowledge that allowed him to hold his own in an international crowd.
That reminds me of grade school too much to be relaxing.
