So, I’m just getting over a week-long bug. According the local doc-in-the-box, there’s a weird ten day, flu-like virus going around and, of course, I got it. So, I’ve been limping around at at half capacity for a week. I don’t have an article in the works. I don’t have a Christmas tree. I just started shopping for reals yesterday. Life fail.
Anyways. Here’s what I’ve just started to do. It’s not organized or pretty, but if you want to steal some ideas. We have a week to go.
- For younger kids/tweens with geeky inclinations:
- Stikbots Animation Studio Mega Pack
- HTC VIVE (hahahah. On his list. Not happening.)
- STEAM gift card
- An Under Armour sweatshirt
- Anything but Axe
- Pokemon Sun – Nintendo
- Yankee Calendar
- For older teens, who think that they’re too cool:
- A Simpeak charging dock
- Aukey Table Lamp, Touch Sensor
- A classic watch or a sporty watch
- Because the grunge look is starting to come back…. A Wolverine jacket and flannel from LL Bean. Last year, we got the Timberland boots, which he loves.
- A gift card to Moe’s, because the kid eats a lot of burritos.
- Fleece PJ bottoms
- A balaclava and ski gloves
- For teenage girls.
- Classic, understated jewelry is in. So a necklace like this is good. Or this one from Etsy.
- Roll on perfume
- Saphora Make up kit
- For people who like to putz about in the kitchen:
- Chilewoch Basketweave Placemats
- Anthony Bourdain’s New Cookbook
- Dessert Plates
- Girlie Stuff
(OK. Today suddenly got very busy. I’ll come back to this post throughout the day. This will be the last gift guide of the month.)
What happened to the article on populist resentment of privileged liberal “snowflake” college students, fanned by alt-right* news sites? No sale?
*I am using alt-right to refer to the broad universe of conservative, sometimes unreliable, internet news sites. Sometimes the term is reserved for a smaller group of more or less avowedly racist websites and writers.

Ugh – I had that same bug, but I couldn’t find the time to go to the doc in the box as I could only find the time to collapse at home after getting just some work done. Glad to know (via diagnosis once removed over the internet) that it wasn’t all in my head. I can’t remember the last time I felt that bad for so long – it was the worst. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

For crafty types: I just learned, through Amazon reviews, that there are HUGE differences between needles. Who knew? Also, many needlework pros have arthritic fingers. They’re also cheap, er, price-conscious.
