Spreadin’ Love 425

28talk-schnapps-tmagArticle David Brooks writes about Sandra Bullock, marriage, and the happiness research. James Joyner responds.

Steve wants a vacation that involves drinking lots of schnapps. I want to go eco-tripping.

Which party has the most sex scandals?

I'm watching Jamie's Food Revolution on Hulu.

  1. Brooks bugged me, not because marriage isn’t more important than success at work, for happiness, but because he implied that there was some kind of trade for Bullock. Is there any reason whatsoever to imply that Bullock could have traded her Oscar for a spouse who didn’t cheat?
It was a sucky lead in to the rest of the story.

  2. Cuckquean! Wonderful, my Scrabble is enriched. Chenoweth aside, though, I think the Dems have generally made more salacious, zippy, interesting, scandals. Reille Hunter’s love child beats Larry Craig’s wide stance. YMMD.

  3. Is there any reason whatsoever to imply that Bullock could have traded her Oscar for a spouse who didn’t cheat?
She’d have never gotten an Oscar if she had as many tattoos as the mistress.

  4. “I think the Dems have generally made more salacious, zippy, interesting, scandals.”
It helps when there’s a media cover-up, to give the thing more drama and heft.

  5. I can’t quite remember Packwood’s exact details, but any drawn-out period of revelation works, too. I was thinking of what’s-his-name walking the Appalachian Trail. There’s the initial mystery (where is he?), which lends a bit more interest to the situation.

  6. On the scandal list top ten, I’d never heard of 1, 5, and 6. Being as #6 involved a sitting U.S. Senator, I’m not sure how I missed it.
