Ferber is falling out of favor and more people are making room in their bed for baby. We went through two months of hell as our 3 year old suddenly was unable to sleep without the warm body of a grown up. We tried all sorts of nice, half way measures to ease him out of the bad habit. The only thing that worked was making him cry for three days and we’re magically back to getting a full night of sleep again. We put him into bed by himself at 7:45, and we don’t see him for 12 hours later. Ferber works. Yeah, we might have fucked up his fragile psyche, but you know what? I don’t care.

That Brooks piece is getting ripped apart by Echidne and Pandagon. I am burnt out on the topic, but I just want to add that the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy. Brooks is way off base when he says the silver bullet solution to all domestic problems is family values. If we suck the funding out of our schools, but just have a loving mommy and daddy at home, then all will be well. Uh, no. So Brooks is off base, but Hirshman is still an idiot.
