Hello, friends! Or hola, amigos!
Steve and I are in Valencia, Spain at the moment. We’ve already travelled through Barcelona, Zaragoza, and Teruel. Tomorrow, we’re taking a train to Peniscola (yes, you can snicker) for a few days. They filmed scenes of Game of Thrones there, but mostly it’s a posh Mediterranean beach spot. On Saturday night, we get back to Barcelona and fly back on Sunday morning.

I’ve walked 20,000 steps today and have a belly full of paella, so we’re back in the hotel room making TikTok videos and watching the BBC. I can’t quite manage the Spanish eating tradition of consuming vast amounts of food late at night. I feel like a beached whale.
When we get back, I’m going to be working full time on a new gig. I don’t want to make a grand announcement yet, but it’s amazing. I’ll be able to do much of what I’ve been doing but in a paid, permanent sort of way. It’s stunning actually. More details to come.
I wish I could be writing and blogging about the DNC, but I’m on vacay with a 6 hour time difference.

Have fun!

Is this region of Spain as full of tourists as they say? Is that annoying for foreigners and for locals? Enjoy your holidays!

No! It’s crazy but I haven’t heard American-English in ten days. Not sure what’s going on. Maybe we went to unpopular places?

Barcelona in revolt. Says so on the Intertubes, must be true: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/7/9/why-are-barcelona-residents-protesting-against-tourists#:~:text=What%20happened%3F,Barcelona%20is%20not%20for%20sale%E2%80%9D.

I didn’t see more than a handful of American tourists the whole time that we were away. I’m halfway through a newsletter about this. I’ll finish it tonight. Right now, I’m getting Ian settled at the new community college.

It looks like you had such a great time! But I am sure you’re happy to back home where there is ice and air conditioning.

Yes, I was happy to get back home. My own bed and more diverse food options were very welcome. But I am already planning my next trip. I love traveling.

I haven’t been out of state except for a family event or business in years. Fortunately, I like this state.
