Colleges are burying their endowments overseas. This is not looking good, folks.

The gossip bloggers are speculating that the Democrats are picking on HRC right now, because some shit is going to come out about Bill and they are trying to distance themselves.

She did actually manage to lose the Presidency to Donald Trump. See the Brad Delong rant about her at the time she ran for Senate, which he later walked back but which looks awfully good with time.

  2. There have been rumors about Bill and the Weinstein types. Bill’s had his issues, and I’m not forgiving the past (I remind others that I did not vote for him in ’96), but since 1996 he has kept his sexploits to willing participants as far as has been rumored.

    Have you read Ronan Farrow’s piece on Weinstein and his PIs? Holy crap, that was scary stuff. I could see Weinstein trying to burn it all down at this point. Bill could be collateral damage.

      I wonder if this bit from that Wikipedia article is true: “In September 2002, Epstein flew Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker to Africa in his private Boeing 727, known as the “Lolita Express”. Flight records show Bill Clinton flew on Epstein’s plane 26 times.”

      It would be interesting to check if that sentence was there before Kevin Spacey’s recent problems.

      Ronan Farrow has been doing amazing work. And to think that just a year ago, I would have thought of him as a pretty boy airhead show biz nepotism hire.

      1. I don’t know what’s the deal with Ronan. I was thinking about him and how amazing his work has been, and I thought, “Wow, Mia raised him well.” But then I remembered that Mia was involved with Sinatra (*cough*babydaddy*cough*) and Woody Allen, so she had some pretty sucky male role models around her children and some awfully bad taste. I guess perhaps we can give them credit for breaking the cycle of abusive men in their lives.

        Ironically, he has the pedigree (Farrow & Allen), education (Yale), looks and talent to get his piece published.

        And high praise on my part to the New Yorker for printing his work. Dams break when they’re rotten.

        On a side note, I wonder if the PI work might not have emboldened Weinstein’s accusers, in that it created the impression that there were more people interested in the issue than there otherwise might have been. It does make me think that I will check people’s credentials fairly carefully in the future.

Yeah, Woody’s abuse of Dylan was probably a wakeup call for Mia and Ronan and others in their family, but it’s just an interesting stew of celebrity, narcissism, neuroticism, misogyny, probably alcohol/drugs–not a likely birthplace for a male feminist. But it doesn’t mean it couldn’t/didn’t happen.

        And his SS team didn’t – hmmm, why would he not want them along, hmmm.
        I have no doubt that more will be coming out about Bill Clinton. I think he is a rapist and I hope he goes to prison.

      1. Seems risky, but if it’s willing participants, it doesn’t matter so much. The thing with Epstein and Spacey is the abusiveness/exploitation/possible pedophilia involved. That seems less like Bill since ’96. And Bill likes them young, but not superyoung/underage.

      3. True. But we also have to be wary about what “hanging out” means. I mean, there are plenty of Weinstein victims who seem to have hung out with him afterwards. That speaks more to inescapable social situations.

      5. Wendy, I wouldn’t be sure that anyone Clinton met while traveling with Epstein is really a willing participant. Too much coercion, too young, if actually of age, too likely to have been abused since a young child. The whole thing is disgusting.

  3. I’m not prone to conspiracy theorizing, but all of this stuff coming out after having been (remarkably, and terribly) hidden for so long makes me wonder if something else is going to come out on the current president.

  4. My current job started as a Linked-In inquiry. But most the ones I get aren’t particularly interesting.

    Many universities are now financial firms with education as an incidental side business. Their tax-exempt status makes no sense at this point.
