It’s a day off around here. The kids are home from school. Steve’s home. We’re using this bonus day to catch up with life. I’m chugging through my chore list by the side of the computer. Hell, I might even make it to the bottom of the list and actually schedule a doctor’s check-up for myself. It’s only been about six or seven years. No biggie, right?
So, what am I reading this morning?
I have to admit that I’m fascinated with Ebola.
I had a crappy landlord in Manhattan, but this is disgusting. I think that there should be more public humiliation of these assholes.
The demographics of cable news shows explains all those Cealis ads.

“Hell, I might even make it to the bottom of the list and actually schedule a doctor’s check-up for myself. It’s only been about six or seven years. No biggie, right?”
Ai yay yay.
Move that one to the top of the list.

I was just going to reply to this too. TOP OF LIST. I’m the same age as you, and I get regular maintenance. They find nothing wrong (except a little HBP), and that’s the way I like it. I get all the pokes and prods. Of course, I also have lost 1 parent and 1 in-law to cancer and have a sister with it.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! This starts off our reading week at the U so I have a hope of catching up on the marking, the copy edits and the general life chores over the next few days. Can’t do much today except clean and mark because all the stores are shuttered for the holiday, hooray!

I’ve been putting “make optometrist appointment” at the top of my list for weeks, and it’s been YEARS since I’ve been. Stuff like this is why people keep using that “oxygen mask” analogy. We are the problem.

The optometrist is also the one I keep putting off because it’s hard to squeeze it into the available time on the weekend. As far as I can recall, I haven’t been to the optometrist since Baby T was born and I didn’t go while pregnant (thinking that pregnancy would have weird effects on the eyes) so it’s got to have been at least 3 years since I got new glasses. Possibly four. I’m pretty sure that I’ve only gotten new glasses once (at the most twice) since moving to TX 7+ years ago.
I’m only about 6 months behind schedule for a mammogram, so woohoo! (My mom got diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 2 or 3 years older than I am today.)
Flu shot coming up any day now…
I’m pretty much up to date on plain old doctor appointments, or at least I will be in a week.
The 2-year-old has just started parents’ day out once a week, so going forward, I should be able to schedule stuff pretty easily.

I was getting headaches bad enough that new glasses was the top of the list. Bifocals. The no-line kind are worth it for avoiding the oldster look.
