National Geographic Posters

20073CA friend told me a heart-breaking tale this weekend. He had an old National Geographic poster that he loved, but it was a bit chewed up. He took it to get laminated at Staples and they made a big mess of it.

I, too, share a love of National Geographic posters. I am hoarding a pile of them in a box in a closet. At some point, I might wallpaper an accent wall in a bathroom with the posters. Who knows? All I know is that they are cool.

What should my buddy have done? Well, it turns out that his poster is available on the National Geographic website. Instead of laminating it at Staples, he should have gone to our local art store that has a framing department and asked for it to be “dry mounted” on poster board. If he had them trim it to a regular size, he could have put it in a standard off-the-shelf frame.

  1. You evil enabler! I had the 1979 map of Medieval England hanging on my office wall for many years until the folds gave way. Now I just might have to replace it and look for a few more.
