I’ll write a post about the minimum wage battle at some point. In the meantime, check out Annie Lowery’s post about some of the politics. She has a nice graph that shows the biggest hikes in expenditures (hint: higer ed).

Really, really good advice to parents of college students.

  1. I hope US intelligence is doing something for Nigeria with regard to the Boko Haram mass kidnapping of school girls. It seems to me that there should be some information available via satellite intelligence as to the direction the Boko Haram convoys went. Hopefully there is some non-public sharing of intelligence.;

    It’s funny that Obama has seemed pretty disengaged from Africa issues, particularly as compared to George W. Bush.

    1. Obama used military force as part of a successful effort to overthrow an African dictator.

      Plus, the main effect of Obama being directly engaged in this is another round of “born in Kenya/secret Muslim” shit.

      1. Which is one reason why I think direct U.S. involvement in chasing Boko Haram would not be helpful in the long run.

  2. I don’t think too many minimum wage families send their children to college, but the few who do send them do not pay anything like the sticker price. So that graph is more relevant to struggling MC (say, incomes up to $120K) families than to minimum wage earners.
