Another View of the New Back Patio

There was a request for more pictures of the new back patio, so I took a few pictures this morning, after dropping Jonah off at cross country practice.

Rule Number One of home renovations — After fixing one thing, it becomes very obvious that other things need to be done.

We put in a new back patio not only to have an outside dining area. We needed to remove the awkward cement steps that were funneling water into a corner of the house and to straighten out the dirt line, which was hitting the wooden shingles and creating more water problems. So, we put in a lovely new patio, but now the dirty, half rotten shingles are exposed. The whole area needs a coat of paint. You can see the old dirt line on the foundation.

With that disclaimer, here’s more pictures of the patio. I’ll get it finished off by next year.

Plants cover the rotten shingles. And now there’s a drain that funnels water away from the foundation. I’m very pleased with the drain.

An outdoor bottle opener. Yay.

I think I’m going to paint an accent wall back there and put in this light fixture.
