This article about the revival of the 90s fashions, make me think about Nirvana. I remember where I was and who I was dating when this album came out. He made me a tape of it.
My rule for fashion is that if you wore it a decade ago, you're not allowed to wear it again, even if it is back in style. My exception might be Doc Martens. Love them.
I have the original Dr. Martens
in my closet. But I also like these floral Docs and the Mary Janes
. Oooh, check out their Dr. Martens Women's Eleanor T-Bar Pump
.

That was all my daughters wanted for Christmas around here…one of them has that exact pair and another had a different floral pair. Thanks to mom-in-law–they’re pricy.

That seems a little strict. I’m wearing the same clothes I wore 10 years ago. I think I’ve dressed about the same since 1997 or so and about half of my shirts are ten years old.

I never got the doc martens craze. In the old days, it was ’cause I couldn’t imagine paying that much for shoes, but, also ’cause the shoes were so heavy. Now, I’m willing to pay that much for shoes, but the shoes are still too heavy (and, they don’t come in half sizes).

Oh, and I totally disagree with the 10 year rule, and you should definitely make an exception for Doc Martens. Don’t they count as a trend that can transcend time, like a black dress?

I’ve worn doc martins as my “dress” shoes for many years, and don’t find them especially heavy, and they certainly come in half sizes, at least for the men’s shoes, as that’s what I’m wearing right now. I don’t have the boot kind, though, so maybe those are different.
Sad to say, too, that the Nirvana craze was well more than 10 years ago (closer to 20, even.) We are most all of us older than we think.

My friend Mike tried to convince me to buy saddleback docs the other day, but I baulked, buying a nice dressy pair instead. I really loved the saddlebacks but wouldn’t have the nerve to wear them. Haven’t worn any shoes but docs since 1987. Doubt I ever will.

There must be some sort of exception that if you’ve worn it the whole time, you get to keep wearing it.
I see that plaid flannel shirts have also made a comeback–I see them all the time at the college cafeteria.
