The Economist’s slant seems to be that heterogeneity leads to (i) dimunition in enthusiasm for egalitarianism, redistribution, and social democracy and (ii) more economic and cultural creativity. Of course, these conclusions accord with The Economist’s general worldview, so some skepticism is warranted. Still, this can’t be a tradeoff that most American liberals relish.

  2. I was disappointed a bit – I was thinking this was going to be all historical. But it’s good to see what my grandmother’s people are doing so I’ll take a read.
    And, speaking as a historian? The horned helmets are totally inauthentic.
