The first few sentences should be interesting. Inboxes of editors are crazy. example? "I want to work for you! Because I love this about your magazine. Because I have this expertise." Think about the lede for your article. Relate it to the news cycle, if that's appropriate.
A news cycle goes by pretty quickly. A monthly magazine doesn't have that pressure. Ex. Aurora. Fox News has done all the angles already. A monthly magazine might look a bigger topics, like how to cope during a crisis.
Need to convince the editor that you know how it is going to look on the page. Visually. Put that in the third paragraph of a pitch.
