If you ever get a nice e-mail from an editor, keep hitting reply on the same thread every time that you pitch an idea to them. That way they'll remind them who you are.

Send out submissions out to multiple sources at one time. You can tell them that you're sending it out to lots of places, but whatever.

Start off with local or free sources first and then leverage that experience to get a bigger fish.
