Linkedin Jobs Report

Industry_growthLinkedin's analysis of the evolution of the economy is really worth a look.  The big winners are environmental jobs. I thought medicial jobs would have been higher up. Public policy jobs are better than medicine? Hmmmmm.

Newspapers may be the big losers, but online publishing is number 3 in growth. Writers, hope is not lost!

Maybe this is a good time to do more writing for online magazines about public policy issues. Oh, yes. I'm doing that.

  1. I’m not surprised to see medical jobs going down. People don’t seem to connect the drive to drastically reduce our medical costs with elimination of all those office manager and rad tech jobs. But there is a very direct corellation.

  2. Argh! I was trying to discuss medical jobs going down on the list, not down in raw volume. (I blame the time change.)

  3. LinkedIn is sort of creepy/good at finding people I work with and sending me emails about how I should connect with them.

  5. This is a ratio measure — the reason that public policy jobs are higher on the percent change scale is that there are so many fewer of them (i.e. the size of the circle). If there are 10 gazillion medical “Hospital & Health care” jobs, 1 gazillion more means a 10% increase. But, if there were 100 public policy jobs, 120 public policy jobs means a 20% increase (1 gazillon more jobs, 20 more jobs).
