I'm a very frustrated woman right now.
I'm in a decorating mood, but this isn't the time to paint and move furniture and create mess, so I'm sublimating my nesting mood by eating lots of dark chocolate.
And then the New York Times does an article on the new online shelter magazines — Matchbook, Lonny, Rue, and High Gloss. Ugh. Need. More. Chocolate.

I wish you could come to my house. I have the need, I have the money, and I have the time, but I have no skill or desire to decorate.

I was going to say the same thing as Wendy. Perhaps you have friends who will let you move furniture and create a mess in their houses.
I’m a theoretical decorator. I love looking at things and imagining, but am very very bad at execution. You could do wonders in my house.

I’m thinking of painting an ‘accent wall’ the next time my wife leaves the house for an afternoon.

MH,
I suggest getting a wall-size version of several favorite sci-fi/fantasy book covers, and then installing them strategically around your house. I was just googling “sci fi book covers” and there are hundreds of suitable options.

I think ‘accent wall’ what you call it when you paint just one wall a vivid contrast to otherwise neutral walls. I think our house is too much beige.
