I’m intrigued by my read that all of these “xtranormal” animations have exactly the same affect. I’ve seen the sprint v iphone one, the iphone response, a custom one made by a friend, and, now, this one.
They all seem identical, except for the actual words themselves. The general impression of suppressed anger, snark, snotty frustration.
Is it possible to make a happy xtranormal animation? for example, wow, look at this incredibly awesome lego building lego robot? Or a sad one?
This is depressingly funny. Sigh.
I haven’t watched other xtranormal animations, & I’m sure bj is right about them, it’s still fun to watch, though.
Oh, so true…
I think that’s the *point* of the xtranormal animations. I think the deadpan, computer generated voice saying things that are slightly hysterical is the funny part. There’s a very funny Mompetition on that is really the zenith, in my opinion.
I’ve seen some really good ones on real estate, but I think bj is basically correct on the affect. Character A is always a naive and demanding newbie, while Character B is always a worldly, depressed and somewhat suicidal old hand.
That’s great. I really like the preschool admission video:
I’m pretty sure I went to their informational session. That was the Reggio Emilia preschool in NW DC that charged $10k a year and had the most amazing kid-made art projects.

I made some movies with that program a couple of years ago and yeah, no way to program in lifelike expressive speech. It all sounds like that.
