I wonder if there was a lot of back room deals and multiple ballots at the Rent Is Too Damn High Party Convention to determine who their nominee would be in this year’s election.
You could actually make the argument that the Rent Is Too Damn High party partakes of the same sort of property/land-based critique of capitalist economics that Henry George was making when he ran unsuccessfully for New York City mayor in the 1890s. Which is more than enough an argument in favor of the dude for me.
Jimmy McMillan, “The Rent Is Too Damn High”
Monday night 10/18/10 candidates gathered for governor of New York,
Not so in a debate but to state their case for the job & to give a report,
Of their qualifications, programs with the desired need for this and that,
Enabling the voters and potential donators to get feel of where their at.
A writer for Politics Daily called the event a circus but that is not case,
No elephants, horses, lions, trapeze artists or clowns all over the place,
When I think of Barnum & Bailey or Ringling Brothers they don’t equate,
Andrew Cuomo, Carl Paladino or whomever I choose to decide my fate.
However, although I no longer reside in that biggest and busiest state,
There actually was one named Jimmy McMillan a third party candidate,
Running on the platform of, “The Rent Is Too Damn High” I can relate,
The millionaires never miss a meal, it’s been days since many last ate.
This former soldier was once stationed in Southeast Asia at Vietnam,
He’s had previous dealings with the misguided works of Uncle Sam,
Declaring he represents the party of, “The Rent Is Too Damn High,”
Plenty laughter from those in attendance at Hofstra University. Why?
Can someone explain the humor when there’s not enough food to eat?
Better still, when those parents and their kids are sleeping in the street,
Obviously they need a voice like that of John, “crying in the wilderness,”
As is not getting better as every year it gets worse, something is amiss.
The writer even calls it a cross between, “News Hour” & “The Maury Show.”
Sleeping in the streets with no food or money is not the American way to go,
Then there is former madam Kristin Davis who wants to legalize, you know,
We might not be able to provide food or shelter but should you need a, “Ho!”
She likened her record keeping not in kind to the corruption at the city’s MTA,
Business was always on time, happy customers and rides weren’t given away,
She kept one set of books and she could keep a secret like her clients names,
And to be governor great of the state of New York this was her claim to fame?
Cuomo claims to know the state, “like anybody else on this stage” ok now laugh,
How can you even come close to knowing how it feels to go weeks w/o a bath?
Life in the jungle one was unable to experience the warmth of a nightly shower,
While the other one well, hopefully for her clients sake she took one every hour.
This minor skirmish of the meeting of the minds can be viewed on, You Tube,
No you will not get to see the madams underwear or neither one of her boobs,
I am sure afterwards there was much to drink along with many different foods,
After discussing the plethora of problems facing them, who was in the mood?
Mario also stated, “I understand the disgust at Albany and I share in it.” What?
With no income and no health care, fed at shelters from paper plates and cups,
A gangster threatening a reporter, “to take you out, buddy” Carl, feed the state,
Then you can wine and dine the media Mr. Paladino, those columnists can wait.
The state has an 8 billion dollar deficit, inflated taxes, 8.2% unemployment rate,
The, “Don” touch on Medicare costs that are wrought with fraud, abuse & waste,
With so many serious issues that need to be discussed in New York far & wide,
What better place to start than Jimmy McMillan’s “The Rent Is Too Damn High!”
I still can’t get the headset to work on the computer, but I really want to vote for that guy based on facial hair alone.
