I see David Brooks' liked John Podhoretz's essay on New York City in the 1970s, also.
While there may be a free press in Russia now, the free press is not always tolerated. Frightening article and video in the New York Times.
Rebecca Mead in The New Yorker writes about Andrew Breitbart, the conservative Internet entrepreneur. I might have gone to his site twice. And never on purpose. Does anybody really read him?

There is little free press in Russia these days, particularly for national TV, which is almost entirely state controlled. Newspapers and radio do a bit better, esp. in the regions.

I don’t know anyone who voted for Nixon either.

I see David Kane beat me to the punch. I’m afraid our blog hostess has just solidified her identity as another one of those stereotypical “Atlantic Coast Provencials” that inhabit the lefty echo chamber. I just didn’t realize she was channeling Pauline Kael. 🙂
