As I explained in that last post, I used Twitter, while watching the president's speech on Monday. It was a blast. Twitter is a much better tool than blogs for live commentary. Liveblogging is never pretty. You're flipping back and forth between your favorite bloggers. Simultaneous commentary is always quick thoughts and not paragraphs, so Twitter just works better.
My friends, for the most part, don't use Twitter. I use it to follow various pundits and activists. I follow political scientists to hear about the latest research, but they don't post very often. You don't have to post anything yourself, but just use it to follow other people. Here are some suggestions:
You can follow me if you like, but I'm not all that active. My ID is @laura11d. I follow Dooce, because she talks about being on the Dr. Phil show. I also follow her husband for the political commentary. Others that were fantastic during the speech were Markos Moulitsas, Ezra Klein, Matt Ygelesias, and Josh Marshall.

Ok, now that I have an iPhone (MH is right about the 10th anniversary, more or less), I’m gonna have to get with the Twitter. Just as soon as I can get signal reliably, grrr, Second World, grrr.
Markos is worth the price of admission, all by himself.

That’s VERY wise. My husband is deaf to hints. And refuses to listen to me if I’m more direct. He thinks it’s cheating. Hello all men, listening to your wife’s hints is NOT cheating.
