Home decor, Jersey style. A couple of years ago, I went around the area taking pictures of the worst McMansions in the area. Should I post them? Will I get sued?
Random note: I'm really impressed with Sotormayor's likability factor.
If academic papers had comment sections.

That Jersey stairwell? Small by Georgian standards. Restrained, even. I’m just sayin.

Please post them….I don’t think you could possibly get sued if you blur the addresses. I mean, Google street maps?

So, you know, you can reserve a spot in the “rotating tower” right now. Or, at least, you can download the brochure. It has a car elevator, so that if you have one of the 5000 sqr foot pallatial villas, you can park your car in your own space, 30 floors up.
Why do the Jersey homes look so dated? The Buehler home you profiled, doesn’t. Neither do older homes, most of the time, though perhaps those have been updated, or they would look dated.
I think one reason might be what Doug points out — the stairwell, is an imitation (“restrained”, but really, a miniature imitation of the real thing).

I was just reading that Sotomayor went to Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx. I wonder how her private school experience will affect her views on voucher cases and other related education issues that come up before the court.

PLoS One actually has a comments section. It’s not anonymous, though, and doesn’t look anything like that. 🙂

Well, I went to a private school, and am vehemently opposed to vouchers. I don’t think the two have much to do with each other though.

Ah, but you aren’t a Puerto Rican woman who grew up in public housing.
I don’t know which way Sotomayor would go on the Supreme Court, but there’s at least a possibility that Sotomayor believes that her private schooling is a major factor in where she is today. If she has a burning passion for social justice and for the advancement of minority youth (and why shouldn’t she?), who knows where that may lead her?

Eduwonk says:
“Judge Sotomayer seems inclined to favor student rights (she won’t be joining in Justice Thomas’ efforts to overturn Tinker (pdf)) and seems to in general be sympathetic to individuals over the system. And disability advocates will also likely have another friend on the high court if she is confirmed.”

I’m pretty sure that having your building look like it houses the borg collective isn’t a good thing, and many of these examples fail that test.
