Midweek Journal

The kids are off for the next two days.

Their school has had only a handful of full weeks, since the beginning of the year. Jonah also had a half day for election day, so he’s only been to school for two and half days this week. The teacher kept them busy with crossword puzzles and word searches.

I can get a bit freaked out by these school closures. It’s such a pain to figure out child care. But we’re cool this week. Anything that was on my plate for the day can be easily put off for later. Tomorrow morning, I have a sitter to watch the kids when I teach. Sure, it will cost me $50, but the kids won’t be home alone playing with razors.

Actually, I’m pretty psyched that we’re all together today. We just watched the Today show snuggled under the blanket on the sofa. I explained to Jonah what a Cabinet is. Jonah said that he would make his best friend, Chief of Staff. I said that was a very fine idea, even though it isn’t.

We discussed what we wanted to do for these two days. I think we need some adventures. We talked about going to the Cloisters and then to Fivo’s for pizza. Or maybe we can go tomorrow and meet up with Steve after work. Maybe there’s a Washington-slept-here sort of place in the area. Hmmm. Will the Science Museum be too crowded? Off to make plans.
