I’m bracing myself for a trip to the mall. I’m not in the mood for playing Parking Space Death Match, but better today than tomorrow. To summon shopping energy, I thought I would post about the few purchases that have been done.
For the in-laws, we’re doing a coffee theme. Cuisinart’s Grind and Brew. Chocolate covered espresso beans. Bag of Starbucks coffee. Starbucks chocolate. And then a few small items like an ornament, earrings for mom, and a tri-pod flashlight for Steve’s gadget loving father.
For the boys: a scooter, a computer game, books, art supplies, Lego, and Transformers. The scooter was $60 and the "big gift." But if it’s snowy, they aren’t going to be able to play with it, so I need a few other smallish things to keep them busy on Christmas day. Christmas day has to be all about leaving us alone and playing with loot.
Steve and I are giving each other the gift of a kitchen. We might wrap up a light fixture under the tree, but nothing else.
I’m in charge of the Christmas gift for my folks this year. But we’re drawing a blank. I better get on that one.
My nieces are getting frilly little girlie things, because that’s an itch that doesn’t get scratched in this house of boys.
Steve’s cousins kids are getting books, puzzles, and gift certificates.
I don’t exchange gifts with my brother, sister, and cousins. Instead, we get babysitters and get loaded in a nice restaurant in the city the week after Christmas. The gift of a hangover.
I’m also making it a tradition that we support one cause over the holidays. I think we’re going to buy a heifer, because Jonah wants to pick out the animal. I like that he can be involved in this activity.
OK, I’m feeling a little better after making this list. Maybe I’m close to done.
