“Why Poor Kids Can’t Find a Dentist” (via Harry B)

I am going to have to get a babysitter and see Knocked Up. The reviews are fantastic. And I loved the magazine article about the director. We are huge fans of the 40 Year Old Virgin. “Do you know how I know you’re gay? Because you are holding each other ever so gently.”

Funny Or Die. Will Farrell in The Landlord. We live in a Golden Age.

  1. Loudon Wainwright III has produced an entire album of songs “inspired by” or in the film. I’m thrilled about it too. BUt it’ll have to wait till DVD, I think (8 months, and we still can’t leave him with a babysitter to put him to bed).

  2. I have loved Seth Rogen ever since “Freaks and Geeks.” If you can’t get out to see this film, I recommend renting the entire “Freaks and Geeks” series. Surely the best thing ever produced for television. Ever.

  3. We saw Knocked Up last night, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It’s actually pretty subtle, insightful, and truthful, and a very good use of your precious babysitter time.

  4. About the dentist article:
I remember reading an article a couple years back comparing the earnings of two very similar men (brothers, I believe), one a doctor with lots of Medicare/Medicaid (?) patients, the other a dentist who was refusing to deal with insurance claims and focusing just on cosmetic work. The doctor was just barely scraping by, while the dentist was raking it in. Under the circumstances, one can see that it might be very difficult to get dentists to participate in programs that pay so little compared to market rate.

  5. I’ve been surprised by the utter lack of dental care amongst many of the children at my daughter’s school. I suspect someday, the urban public schools will have to somehow implement rudimentary dental care. The school nurse is already doing quite a bit of primary health care…
