Spreadin’ Love

Two great posts by Jody at Raising Weg on why we shouldn’t care that the Independent Bookstore is going the way of the railroad.

Harry decimates the opposition to same-sex marriage.

I’m going through the blogroll to get feedback on the surge:
Bitch PhD: “So lessee. More troops! Recruitment’s down! We’re keeping crazy folks on the field because we can’t afford to send them home! We’re driving sane soldiers crazy with battle fatigue and then sending them back to battle!.”
Ezra Klein “I find that the folks quickest to fall back on moral anguish are the ones most unwilling to say, clearly, what they believe should be done. In that way, substituting your empathy for an actual judgment on the situation is a form of cowardice.”
Sam Crane: “My sense is that Bush is just lost: he cannot face the terrible defeat he has brought upon the country and he cannot create an effective way out of Iraq.”
Robert Farley: “If you believe that the “surge” will be effective, and if you believe that “rules of engagement” are the primary problem with the operation in Iraq, how can you not conclude that President Bush and his administration are among the most inept blunderers ever to conduct a war? “
Andrew Sullivan notes that Sam Brownbeck is opposed to the war. Worlds colliding.
Lindsay Beyerstein writes, “Even supposing the U.S. is successful in clearing Baghdad of insurgents, a dubious assumption at best, what’s to stop the insurgents from moving to another city and resuming their terror campaign? Does Bush think that the insurgents will just give up because the Americans have concentrated their forces in the capital the bulk of the country unprotected?” As I read her post, I kept thinking about cockroaches in Manhattan running from my place to my neighbors everytime the exterminator came.
Help Gary if you can.

(I have to take Ian to speech therapy. More links throughout the day.)

  1. Wow, Bitch Ph.D. has been outed. That’s crazy. Unfortunately there’s no photo of her on her university’s website.
