Did Cardinal Law resign? Well, eventually he got that cushy transfer to Vatican where he could not be subject to US court jurisdiction.
Nope. No resignation. He will employ what Dennis Thompson calls “rituals of responsibility,” by saying that he “accepts” responsibility — meaning, to him, that he has said the magi cwords, without specific consequences.

He will not resign because the creation of various “investigations” will allow Republicans to evade responsibility (their strong suit, really) until the “investigations” have “run their course…”
