Spreadin Love

I’m way too feebleminded to keep up with the comments sections at unfogged. But if you’re able to keep track of weeks of past conversation and type 80 words a minute, dive in. LizardBreath has a different angle on Hirshman and the the study of childcare in Quebec.

Russell sends me a link to a short piece by Emily Yoffe, who writes about the attacks of the “childfree” and why she decided finally to become a breeder.

  1. I believe you have mischaracterized the Yoffe post. It was actually a follow-up to an advice column in which a woman who chose not to have children asked how to respond to relatives asking when she would have them. Yoffe’s answer was along the lines of “Oh, sweetie, you’ll change your mind.”
Regardless of whether one is childful, childless, or somewhere in between, that answer was offensive in its condescension; and what you call the “attacks of the childfree” were really the childfree defending their right to choose.

I hate when people say this. We’re all warm and friendly and approachable, and given your blog you’re smarter than most of us. In any case, I was glad to see you over there.
