So, the Bishop said we can eat the traditional corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day even though it’s Friday during Lent. My mom is thrilled. I would be thrilled if I could get tickets for the Pogues concert, but they’re sold out. Damnit.

The Pogues! Oh, I have fond memories of seeing the Pogues way back. Our kids can sing along with all the songs on “The Very Best of the Pogues” CD.

Well, despite family who was very serious about the whole corned beef thing, I never much liked it. But the Pogues, now that’s something I never would have given up for Lent! 🙂
Ancarett, LOL! I don’t have kids but I often fantasize that my future kids and I will sing along to Fairytale of New York. One of my all-time favorite songs.
By the way- long-time casual visitor to the blog, but more serious 11D-reader recently. I love it!

Himself suggested (when I read him the relevant tidbits) that drinking green beer was precisely the “appropriate alternative penance” the Jersey bishop had in mind.
