Leave saving the world to the men? I don't think so.

Envious of those going to the APSA? Gee, this puts the drudgery of parenting in an entirely new perspective. Then again, I was never on an APSA panel where the audience was much larger than the panel, and nobody ever gave me a cool movie nickname in the process.
As for copter parents: I’ll spread David Kirp’s old apocraphyal story. A parent calls the professor to discuss some issue pertaining to their child. The professor says “do you have a pencil? Please take down this number. It’s my parents’ number. Maybe you could discuss this with them.”

heh. I see you met my lovely co-author, Toni. Still not sure if I was supposed to be Thelma or Louise, but either is fine. That was an unusually fun panel at APSA. Blogging does have its perks.
