Term Two

I’ve been reading through the articles on Bush’s inaugriation thinking through a post. What to say? Young Barbara made a poor choice of pairing a black belt with her light, blue coat? Probably won’t buy any more Lyle Lovett CDs after he played at the He-Man Ball last night? Did Jenna think she was at Ozfest?

Going through his speech… Not much there. But I guess most inaugriation speeches are typically dull.

The word “terrorism” is notably absent from his speech. See, we’re in Iraq not because of links to Osama. Not because of WMD. But because we’re setting the Iraqi people free. Yeah, yeah. That’s what I meant to say.

William Henry Harrison gave a 90 minute inaugriation speech in an ice storm and promptly croaked of pneumonia one month later.

Kerry sat on the podium today. Got to wonder what pharmaceuticals he was taking to hold back the bile.

After his inauguration, President Andrew Jackson invited the American public to the White House where they trashed the place, and the president had to jump out a window to escape.

Other than Sullivan, not many other bloggers are talking about the coronation. I guess the inauguration is a bit of a “no-duh” sort of day. He won a while ago. And, Bush didn’t give any hints about what he’s going to hit us with next. It’ll be something big before he starts wandering into lame duck land. It looks like it’s going to be the social security thing, so I’m going to have put some toothpicks under my eyelids and read that NYTimes article.
