Travel: Streets of Florence, Italy

Florence is one of the prettiest cities that I’ve ever seen. New York City is a city of immigrants intent on making money. Sure, a building might have a nice arch or a little marble in the lobby, but for the most part, the city was built by people, who put aesthetics way down on their list of priorities. Florence was built by people, who had tons of money and were OCD about things like symmetry and design. People’s worth was based on the artists that they supported. And then subsequent generations maintained it all. Even the fancy, designer stores are housed in ancient buildings. Prada bags in 15th century buildings. I’ll share those pictures another day. Here are just pictures of bridges, the Duomo, and the leather market.
