I've been blogging for 7-1/2 years. I've written nearly every day for seven goddamn years. Holy shit. That's a lot of words. I wonder if my kids will ever read this stuff?
About half the content here is about politics or culture. One of the purposes of the blog was to have a conversation about stuff that I found interesting or point people to articles that I loved. Seven and half years ago, I had four year old and a new baby and spent most of my time changing diapers. The blog provided an outlet. The other half of the content here is about my life. I just like writing.
I've been wading through the archives for the past hour looking for stuff for a project and cleaning up the sloppy tags. Reading the old posts is a lot of fun. There's a post about Jonah's ninth birthday and Ian's hatred of socks. There's a post about potty training Ian and our old incontinent cat, Jefferson. There are posts about our system for sorting out our books, a drawing that Jonah did in 1st grade, a shopping trip with Steve and Ian, and our first month out in the burbs.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm high for putting so much work into a project that generates so little income, but there are definitely other rewards.
