New York City just released a database of 870,000 pictures of old New York City. This picture is of Bleeker Street, near Our Lady of Pompeii in 1937. A friend's grandmother lived on the block and taught at Our Lady of Pompeii at that time. I wonder if Nonna knows those people.

Those pictures are remarkable because the bones of New York City were built at that time. The only thing that has changed are the signs in front of the stores. NYC today is NYC in 1937.
