The Shallows

Shallows I'm looking forward to reading Nicholas Carr's book, The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains. His essay "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" was much discussed around here. Check out reviews by Jonah Lehrer and Russell Arben Fox.

Russell pulls out this interesting factoid from Carr's book, "…web surfers overwhelmingly just don't read what they see online, but
merely skim it, on average absorbing perhaps 18% of the verbiage in any
given post at most as they hunt for the next hyperlink or interesting
nugget of information."

More from the New York Times on how technology and gadgets are rewiring our brains.
