Day Off

Steve’s had the week off. He starts a new position on Wall Street on Monday. It’s a full-time position, not another consultancy gig. Hello, health insurance. Hello, paid vacation days. This is a good thing. I’m worried about his new commute, but I’m hoping it won’t be more than 90 minutes each way.

We’ve caught up on a lot of household chores this week. Both cars were serviced. There’s a trap in the attic for the squirrel, the fucker that has kept us awake all week. We went to two Back to School Nights. Steve covered some duties, while I wrote an article. I feel like we squandered this week with chores, so today we’re having fun.

After he gets back from taking a drug test for HR, we will pack up egg sandwiches from the local deli and go for a hike. That way I won’t be tempted to engage in long Twitter battles over the article or compulsively check my article’s ranking on the Atlantic website.

Priorities.
