We have entered into a new era of parenting. It’s called finals week.
Jonah has two big exams this week, so he spent most of the weekend in his bedroom completing review packets. Because Jonah was trapped at home, so was the rest of the family. No trips to the city or the beach, yet.
We worked on Jonah’s study skills together. I can’t help him with math anymore. It’s officially over my head. But I can teach him how to study. Some kids just know how to keep organized and to study efficiently. Other kids need to be taught that skill. We experimented with the 40 minute-20 minute plan. He worked for 40 minutes and then when the buzzer went off on the oven timer, he took a 20 minute break and watched Pawn Stars on the History Channel. He made some flash cards for French. (He hates that.) We kept his spirits up.
Since I was trapped in the house, I worked on blog-geekery. I fooled around with moving this blog to yet another blog platform. I was unsuccessful. This blog with ten years of blog posts is an eighteen wheeler of data that we’re trying to squeeze into a tiny parking space. I need to spend a few more hours with tech support to make that happen. Maybe later in the week. Today, I have to finish off the last article before our summer break.
A few blog posts before I get to work….
