I just finished From the Holy Mountain, William Dalrymple, art historian travels through the remnants of Christianity in the Middle East. It was a revelation of sorts, did not realize how many variant Christian sects remained, and how beleaguered they all are. The Yazidi worship the Peacock Angel, who is roughly analogous to a partly redeemed Satan, so they are sometimes stigmatized as devil worshipers.
