We gave Jonah a pair of Beats two years ago, and they are now permanently glued to his ears. Expensive, but they are totally worth it.
The boy is obsessed with longboarding. This is the place to get the right equipment.
He wants lots of gear for roaming around town with his longboard. He actually asked for socks (amazon link, local skate shop link), because “they make my feet toasty.”
When he is out on his afternoon long skateboard adventures, he sometimes runs out of battery power on his cellphone. So, he wants an Lepow® POKI Ultra-Slim 5000mAh External Battery Pack.
Assassin’s Creed is a must.
They all like the Walking Dead. So, how about a Walking Dead Monopoly set?
A phone case with an image of a Marshall Stack.
Incidentally, these two images are the ONLY images I have him for the past six months. I can’t put them on the X-mas card. What to do?

I used to do that, drink milk straight from the jug. If you get caught, you just finish the jug. Sometimes you do that anyway. Now my whole life is place settings.
My parents didn’t really want any pictures, because my hair was so long. So I only have about three of myself between 16 and 18.

You could totally photoshop some snow, boots and a hat in, so it looks like he’s snowboarding.

I would totally put either of those on the Christmas card. They show J as he is. Have one or two of I in his natural habitat, one of all of you being goofy? It doesn’t have to be a formal shot. I like the cards with a few candid photos more than the “perfect” family.

Long-boarding is a weird-ass trend that I don’t understand at all. I skateboarded for many years, and the only people who would long-board were fat guys who couldn’t do any real skate-boarding. It was sort of a joke. I suppose that maybe that’s why it’s become popular – it’s not really hard, just a sort of goofing off – but I’m really shocked to see it has become as popular as it has. (Even more surprising is people riding essentially toy skateboards that are not only impossible to do anything fun on, but frankly hard to ride to get around. It’s as if people started to ride around on those old sort of metal roller-skates with metal wheels that strapped on the outside of your shoes.) I can imagine long-boarding being fun for about 20 minutes, but don’t get it at all. You can’t even get up a curb w/o a curb-cut. It’s not even like fixed-gear bikes. It’s like if people went back to bikes w/o peddles.

Longboards are for distance, not tricks. Jonah puts in at least 15 miles on his. It’s his pre-car method for independence. The penny boards are to stick in a backpack.

Oh, we’d do that on our skateboards, too, but then could have some fun and get up the curb w/o having to get off or look for a curb cut. For just getting around, it’s a lot worse than a bike, though I guess you can bring it inside. I mean, if people like it, all the better, but it’s a weird fad, for sure.
