Gift Guide 2014 – And Bling For the Win

Jewelry is always a popular gift. I almost never buy jewelry for myself, unless it is $30 or less. But it also a way to make a very expensive mistake. Danger! Unless you are going for something very classic, like birthstone earrings, it is best to stick to one or two favorite brands. Since I hate expensive mistake gifts, my folks and Steve know where to shop.

Go Big or Go Home. Especially when wearing fake jewelry. J. Crew statement necklaces are awesome. I have two. (Two is enough. This is holiday party stuff, not for the office.) Kate Spade has some neat statement bracelets.

I can’t express how much I love this jewelry box from Crate and Barrel. It’s huge, so I was able to get rid of the seven little boxes on my dresser. I can see everything. I can organize. It’s an OCD-miracle.

I’m seeing a lot of teenagers wearing old fashioned Pearl Stud Earrings.

I don’t have a wedding ring. I lost mine in a hospital seven years ago, when Jonah was getting his tonsils out. I was very stressed out. I remember turning it around my finger, because it was pinching. (A cheap thing we got in the Diamond District from some shady Russians.) And then it was gone. I need a new one. I think I want a rose gold and platinum one.

There’s some fabulous jewelry on Etsy.  Oooh, more here. Or just browse the whole section.

Amazon is having big sales, but there is a lot of ugly there. Do not buy anything with too many diamonds or anything heart shaped. I suggest some simple studs, if you feel like you want the deals on Amazon or the big department stores.
