Gift Guide 2014 — The Polar Vortex Edition

This winter is supposed to bring plenty of snow. Might as well get ready for it with cute winter outfits and nice treats inside.

This year, I’m really into preppy boots with fir trim. I just ordered a pair of Sorel Women’s Tofino Felt Boot.

This woman makes the warmest scarves EVAH!

Winter scarves should be bold and flashy, especially if you have a practical black coat. Everybody needs a statement piece. Here’s a nice bright one from J. Crew.

A snuggly throw blanket for the sofa. There are so, so, so many options here. I suggest avoiding Elsa Throw Blankets, but that’s just me. They seem to be very popular at Amazon. Pottery Barn has some safe cable knit throw blankets. L.L. Bean’s washable plaids are nice. Garnet Hill has great bedding products, so I bet their throw blankets are awesome. Then you need a storage ottoman to stuff all the blankets.

Steve would love this wood burning stove.

Is it possible to own too many teapots. No, I don’t think so. I like this one from Fish’s Eddy.  And some Cutely packaged tea leaves? Love.

I like to put socks in the stockings. It’s very meta. Here are some super warm ones for skiing or hiking —Wigwam Socks or Goodhew Women’s Sunrise Sock.

  1. This year I’m definitely getting some of those things you put on your shoes so that you can walk around in the ice. LL Bean had several options (YakTrax, etc.) but they were all sold out yesterday.
