It’s 10:30 am, and I have been charging around the house since 6 am taking care of parenting duties. One kid needed edits on a history essay that was due at 8:30am. The other kid had to have his bags packed for a two-day Revolutionary War reenactment at his elementary school. The next four weeks are back-to-back meetings and appointments and class trips and preparations for camp. It’s all good stuff. There’s lots of learning and fun happening. It’s just a lot.
This is Ian dressed as a Revolutionary War soldier. He and his classmates sewed the cap and the bag.

Feeling nostalgia yet that June will stop being special, when the kids are grown and away? I feel like I’m getting repeated reminders of that change around our house.

It’s not even June yet!
I call June the month of no learning, as I am pretty sure there is no actual instructional time during this month.
What’s f-ing me up right now is an intense dance week as S has a dance competition this weekend (so, extra practices) plus she had senior company auditions last night. And I have to go to Woonsocket, my least favorite competition locale, for the competition.
Camp this year is all music. My husband and I aren’t even that musical, but the kids really love it. I’m thinking in August while the elder is at marching band camp or dance camp, I might do a “home” camp with E where we work on some sort of electronics/maker project (GeekyMomLaura, if you have any suggestions…). I ordered an Arduino set to try out with him.
