Sorry gang for the absense of a blog post I have a sinus infection. In the past two days, I have consumed gallons of hot tea and about 12 really crappy romance novels. I’m on antibiotics now. On the mend. But still not ready for prime-time blogging. I’m taking the kiddies to the Tenement Museum in NYC.
Yes, kids. I know your friends go to ski slopes and Disney during the winter breaks, but we’re going to examine the living conditions of immigrants at the turn of the century! Woohoo! Fun times!

You KNOW I’d be right there with you!

Hope you feel better. We’ve had stuff going around here. Apparently, it was a real ear inflection and not a transparent attempt to miss school.

I hate both skiing and Disney, skiing for the fast hurtling down cliffs and Disney for the lines and noise and commercialism (in addition to not really liking Disney design ethic). It’s been amusing to see the sheer joy of people in my facebook feed over the 2 feet of snow, pictures of ski runs from ski lifts that look like cliffs to me, and the rides at Disney, knowing that I really don’t wish I was there. The Tenement museum sounds way more enjoyable.
Have fun and feel better.
(Now, the feeds from Hawaii, well, I can always go to Hawaii).

Downhill skiing has lines, too. So you have terror AND lines, too. Woo hoo!
I loved skiing as a kid and it was our big yearly extended family event, but at this point 1) I feel like it’s really expensive per hour of fun and 2) I’m afraid of hurting myself. We’ve done two trips with the kids since having kids but dividing the total cost by the number of actual hours of skiing is not a happy exercise.

“about 12 really crappy romance novels.”
All the romance novels I’ve read lately have been crappy, so I went back and read Crusie’s Manhunting for the 57th time the other night.
Actually, I did read Suzanne Brockmann’s Do or Die, which was good, if exhausting to read (so much action).
Feel better!

My kids have never been to any Disney amusement park.
They have been to Legoland.
