The “probably” is the detail that really makes it sing. Anybody can say they made a horrible mistake while drinking, but the implication that there’s something else that he experiences that might have had the same effect as a drunk stupor is closer to unique.
I’m glad to see that they’re accepting improvements — a lot of the things I saw in yesterday’s version made me think this hadn’t been produced by someone with a good grounding in historical linguistics.
I think that “W00T” is the only appropriate reply to that.
Anthony was our bedtime out-loud reading for a few weeks two years ago, and the experience was so pleasant that we embarked on a series of unsatisfying popular archaeology books (1491 being the sole exception) partly picked from the Society for American Archaeology book awards.
