Pope Francis is kinda amazing.
“This church with which we should be thinking is the home of all, not a small chapel that can hold only a small group of selected people. We must not reduce the bosom of the universal church to a nest protecting our mediocrity.”

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am someone who left the Catholic Church for very complicated reasons — in short, we lived abroad for many years while my husband was mostly deployed in Bosnia. The times were very tough on my family and on all the families in the military installation where we lived. I needed counseling and I needed encouragement and the judgy, bachelor priest provided by the Catholic organization was so completely useless to my family during that difficult time. But the Episcopal priest — and his wife — were pillars for the whole community — warm, nurturing, loving, kind. I felt that when my main concern was my family and my marriage, I needed a pastor who modeled and preached with an understanding for how one does these difficult things. I never thought I would ever consider returning to the Catholic CHurch, but this new priest gives me hope that maybe someday things will change.
