We took the kids to a water park on Saturday. We were last there five years ago. I know that because I blogged about it.
Like five years ago, I went somewhat reluctantly. A water park isn’t my first choice of a weekend activity. But when you’re the mom of two boys, you have to suck it up from time to time. I’ll exact my revenge next week when we’re in Maine. I foresee a lot of antique shopping in their future!
It’s funny to read that old blog post, because so much has changed in the past five years. Parenting doesn’t involve herding hyper-active boys from one place to another with a high chance of losing an autistic kid. We sauntered in at a relaxed pace, negotiated which rides we would go on, and left with big smiles on our faces. Nobody got time out. Nobody was cranky. Nobody ran off at a high speed in the wrong direction. It was wonderful!
Ian remembered every minute of that trip five years ago. Luckily, he is still small enough to still go on the baby rides. He likes to relive past experiences, so he did a couple of laps in an inner tube around the “lazy river”. But he also went on the very scary rides with all of us. Including this roller coast. He told me that he plans on eating a lot of vegetables this year, so he’ll be tall enough to go on the ride by himself next summer.

We’re huge waterpark fans. Maybe we should check this one out someday!
I LOVED Ian’s resolution. So cute! 😉
