I wrote all morning, and now I have to dash out to get Jonah, so not much time to blog this morning. But I just HAD to share an awesome website, first.
So, I’m very interested in a book that Ron Lieber’s writing called The Opposite of Spoiled. It’s about how you can raise a normal kid in a wealthy community. Because I’m nosy, I was reading his Facebook page, and he pointed to a tumblr website, Rich Kids of Instagram. It’s wonderful.

I have a feeling the American kids are not as rich as all that–it’s a rental in the Hamptons, the car belongs to a girlfriend’s uncle, they’re dying to show off (It is disquieting how many of the US pics center around partying with champagne.)
My daughter points out Instagram’s international. She thinks the Asian girls posing with cars ARE likely really rich. The Asian boys in designer clothes might not be, but displaying wealth is important if they want to make a good marriage. (She claims designer clothes are more readily available in Asia.) On the other hand, all the Asian children from wealthy families are likely to be very serious students. Their GPA and test scores would crush the American RKOI posters’.
