  1. Trying to link the argument to the natural world was very counter-productive. If you must, you can make a passable argument that males are dominant in the natural world, but it’s pretty hard to argue that leaving the female to support the offspring by herself isn’t more natural than having the male stick around. Birds are the big exception, but mammal have perfected male selfishness. To make the argument that males are naturally dominant, you’d pretty much have to use examples that show anything but complimentary behavior between the sexes.

  2. Hahahahaaa haaa haa!

What’s sad is that a lot of this isn’t so much positive female achievement but the results of the economy battering men and women both. So you have more households where one person is underemployed or unemployed – maybe a woman, maybe a man.

That said, I’ve been the big breadwinner in our household for quite some time – we moved here on the strength of my earning potential and it’s paid off a lot better than staying in the big city where his likely salary ceiling and my adjunct prospects wouldn’t have brought in 2/3 as much as my salary alone these days.

  3. not an edifying spectacle..

as J Liedl says, it’s also unfortunate the change is mostly because employment has been getting worse for everyone but slightly less worse for women.. which point of course the pundits miss entirely, living as they do in a studio entirely surrounded by reality..
