Well, I think I managed the domain name and the archive switch. Lots of details still need to happen. Try out the comment system, please.

Leave saving the world to the men? I don't think so.

Worked, with a link. But, have to use a different email address or it makes me sign in, and I don’t want to.

Let’s see — all but one of my comments in the past two months have not shown up (none of them were interesting enough to bug you about!)

oh, yeah, because I have a couple of wordpress accounts, I need to login with this weird email of mine every time. Or else I need to be logged into my WP accounts. I don’t like WP very much, but they do have an OK look, as long as you pay. I still see “WordPress” in your URL, you can remove that, no? One think I was upset with WP was that I paid to have my own URL, but then my site has ads which they only remove if I pay them. In that respect blogger is better. Sorry, I write too much.

Did all our old comments get “eaten up”? π I’m attached to my comments on other people’s blogs. π just kidding… but with a grain of truth.

All the comments transferred.
I think I can fix the log in requirement.
I need to call someone tomorrow to make the default url = apt11d.com.
This is a temporary design. I will pay for a better design soon. I’m dealing with the biggest technical headaches first.

Well howdy! Seems to be working. If you need any wordpress help, I’ve been using it for years. π

Hi Laura (Geeky mom), I may hit you up re. WordPress! π
I can’t wait to see the new design that you’re getting! Congrats. π And it’ll be nice if I don’t have to be connected to a WP account when commenting (my problem is that several of my emails are connected to WP accounts).

Just thought you should know that comments work from the mobile version. And that I appreciate that mobile option!

I woke up at 5am thinking about html code. I gave up sleeping and decided to tackle the next challenge.
Laura/GM — where do you hide the code for ads and google analytics? Widget on the sidebar? In the footer?

I use two plugins called Google Analyticator and WP Simple Ad Sense Insertion. They hide the code in the template. π But you could put it in a footer. Some templates come with these things built in and you put your code in the settings somewhere. I have used those templates in the past. But I’m fickle so I like the plugins.

I’m having trouble with the plugins, GM/Laura. I don’t see them on the regular dashboard for wordpress, but I see them at wordpress.org. Do I need to have an outside host to run those plugins?

Shoot. Probably. I have a wordpress.com account, too. And I don’t see any plugins. I see this post about plugins not being available for hosted accounts: http://suesdesign.wordpress.com/2012/05/18/plugins/

OK. Now, I need to move over to wordpress.org and an independent hosting service. Honestly, this is such a horrid waste of my time. I’m ready to cry. Sigh. Alright, Laura, what hosting service are you using?

I use Bluehost and have for years. It’s easy to install WordPress, just one click. It will suck in everything from here as well. I have never had an issue with them.

With this font and color, every day is a girly day. (But that’s okay, I knew the blog was written by a girl.)
I’m sure all of Prof. Brighouse’s comments were interesting (though to the extent they had political content, I probably disagreed with them). Hopefully we will be able to read them going forward.

I’ll make the design less girlie in the next couple of weeks. Right now, I’m dealing with lots of behind the scenes headaches. The design is actually the easy part.
